Building Confidence Through Connection and Care
This term we were grateful to learn how much our participants valued and benefited from the unique way TRACTION creates safe, welcoming environments where young people can engage, learn, and build meaningful connections.
The importance of supportive learning environments - alongside the personalised care and guidance of mentors - cannot be overstated. These are essential for helping young people build confidence, strengthen wellbeing, and feel accepted for who they are.
At the end of the BUILD program:
In our First Nations program:
IGNITE Program
Early support is key. When young people connect well with others and feel supported in school, they’re less likely to disengage. This term, our IGNITE primary school program achieved outstanding outcomes.
Confidence Creates Connection - and Reduces Bullying
With growing media attention on school bullying, programs like TRACTION offer a powerful solution. Self-confidence helps young people navigate challenges like bullying by equipping them to act with courage, empathy, and resilience.
When young people feel confident and supported:
92% are more willing to seek and provide peer support, and 72% feel more confident seeking help from adults.
69% feel more positive about attending school, and 72% report improved communication with teachers.
Nurturing confidence not only strengthens learning engagement but also builds safer, more inclusive schools where bullying is less likely to thrive. Teachers report that 67% of participants showed improved attitudes and stronger school connections, and 71% formed better peer relationships - proof that confidence truly is the foundation for connection and growth.
