StellarX 2025: A Day of Purpose, Power, and Possibility
Thank you to Shaun McCambridge, Managing Director of Stellar Recruitment, for inviting Sandy to StellarX 2025. Stellar Recruitment has been a longstanding supporter of TRACTION, with Shaun representing the firm at several CEO Bike Build fundraisers, where he’s worked alongside our young people and experienced first-hand the impact of TRACTION.
Last Friday, Brisbane came alive with bold ideas and inspiring voices as StellarX 2025 brought together leaders, changemakers, and curious minds ready to challenge the status quo. Among them was TRACTION’s very own founder, Sandy Murdoch, who took to the stage to share his powerful talk: “Building a Life Built on Purpose.”
Sandy’s story resonated deeply with the audience. From his early days in corporate life to founding TRACTION for Young People, his journey is a testament to the impact of values-driven work. Today, TRACTION empowers thousands of young people across South East Queensland to build confidence, competence, and momentum through hands-on learning and mentoring. His message was clear: purpose isn’t something you stumble upon - it’s something you build, brick by brick, through courage, connection, and action.
We were also honoured to hear from a lineup of truly exceptional speakers who set the tone for an unforgettable day.
Zion Armstrong, former President of Adidas North America, captivated the audience with his story: “From Running from the Police to Running adidas North America.” His journey - from troubled beginnings to leading one of the world’s most iconic brands - offered a powerful reminder of the potential that lies within all of us to rewrite our story, and the power of a ‘mentor’ that believes in you. Zion’s leadership legacy includes doubling revenue and creating a culture of inclusion, excellence, and global impact.
The day opened with an incredible session by Dr. Alexandrina (Alia) Bojilova, titled “Thrive: The ABCD to Resilience.” A world-renowned psychologist and resilience expert, Alia has worked with elite military units, global leaders, and high-pressure teams. Her talk challenged us to embrace adversity, build character, and develop the inner tools to thrive - not just survive.
And of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without the insight and leadership of Dave Donaghy, CEO of the Brisbane Broncos, who brought a unique perspective from the world of elite sport and business, exploring the role of culture, community, and courage in leading high-performing teams.
To all the speakers who shared their hearts, stories, and hard-earned wisdom - thank you.
We leave inspired, ignited, and more committed than ever to building a future fueled by purpose!
