TRACTION wins 2024 QCOSS Community Impact Award!

Sandy Murdoch, TRACTION Founder, Her Excellency, the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland and Robert Paul, Business Relationship Manager, HESTA.

What an incredible night it was at the 2024 Queensland Council of Social Services (QCOSS) Community Impact Awards at Brisbane City Hall! With over 300 people gathered to celebrate the extraordinary work of Queensland’s community heroes, it was an evening filled with inspiration, gratitude, and celebration of the positive change happening across our state.

We are beyond excited and incredibly proud to share that TRACTION won the award for “Community Impact”, one of six award categories at the awards. The award recognises the extraordinary contribution of an organisation, team or individual in supporting or serving their community in Queensland.

This achievement is a true reflection of the dedication, passion, and hard work of our incredible mentors and the whole TRACTION team. Together, we’re making a difference by supporting young people, helping them grow, and amplifying their stories. This award also highlights the vital work we do in measuring impact and sharing the stories of our young people, ensuring their voices are heard and valued. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey over the last 9 years —our mentors, team, and partners.

As we reflect on the evening, we are deeply moved by the collective efforts of everyone in our sector who is working tirelessly to create meaningful change. The QCOSS Community Impact Awards brought together some of the most passionate, dedicated individuals and organisations, and we are grateful to stand alongside them in our shared commitment to community transformation.

A special thank you to the fantastic MC Trent Dalton and distinguished guest, Her Excellency, the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, for their support in making the night so memorable. The evening was a true celebration of the tireless efforts of all finalists and winners, and we congratulate everyone for their contributions to bettering our communities.

Congratulations to the other amazing award winners:

  • Frontline Hero: Candice Hughes, YFS Ltd

  • Social Impact Award: Luke Terry, Founder and CEO of White Box Enterprises

  • Prevention Excellence Award: Centacare Post Release Services team

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the event sponsors—54 Reasons, HESTA, Health and Wellbeing Queensland, Queensland Public Trustee, and Containers for Change QLD —for making this evening possible.

As we look ahead, we remain more committed than ever to empowering young people and making a lasting difference in our communities. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
