Our Purpose

Why young people need our support

TRACTION’s vision is to build a legacy of enduring opportunity and empowerment across generations. And our purpose is to support young people at this pivotal age, enabling them to build and imagine their futures through hands-on mentoring programs.

The challenge TRACTION addresses

Disengaging from school can have a huge impact on a person’s life. Young people can lose confidence, fall behind academically and see their future shrink.

Disengagement doesn’t happen overnight; it's the outcome of complex, interconnected factors that build over time - such as these common drivers:

Why do young people experience disengagement from school?

Understanding these drivers is essential to designing the right support to help young people re-engage and thrive.

Research forecasts that 283,000 young people will be affected by disengagement by 2030.

The economic cost of this is concerning - but even more alarming is that the underlying causes remain unaddressed. Early engagement and interventions, proven to prevent disengagement, are not widely available or prioritised.

School disengagement in Australia is increasing

TRACTION is a spark that empowers young people to realise their greatest potential. By transforming lives today, we build a new cycle of opportunity and purpose that will uplift future generations and create lasting positive change in communities for decades to come.
