Grounded in Community: Toowoomba Is Showing Up for Its Young People
On the evening of April 15th, we had one of those nights that reminds you why the work matters.
We had the pleasure of hosting Business@Dusk with the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce, and what struck us most was the vibe in the room. People were genuinely interested. Genuinely engaged. And genuinely excited about the opportunities for young people in the region.
That is not something you can manufacture. Toowoomba brought it naturally.
here is a real sense here that people look out for each other, and that extends to the next generation. April 15th was a great example of that. The room was filled with local business leaders, community members and some very special guests, all in the same space, having real conversations about what it looks like to create genuine opportunities for young people growing up in Toowoomba.
We were thrilled to be joined by Mayor Geoff McDonald and Di Farmer, Shadow Minister for Education and the Early Years, and Shadow Minister for Youth Justice. Having both of them in the room was a great sign that the conversations happening here are being taken seriously at every level.
Thank You
Events like this do not happen without good people backing the idea. To the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce, thank you for having us as part of Business at Dusk. It is a brilliant event series and we loved being part of it. To Spectra, your hospitality was next level. Opening up your workshop space for the evening was incredibly generous, and it made for a pretty special atmosphere. The space was a great reflection of what Toowoomba is capable of. And to everyone who came along on the night, thank you for showing up, joining in and making it such a great evening.
Local Mentors
One of the things we are most proud of with TRACTION's work in Toowoomba is that it is locally driven. Our mentors live here. They understand the local landscape. The opportunities, the challenges, and everything in between. They are part of the community they are serving.
What’s Next
April 15th was a great night, but it really is just the beginning. There is a lot more to come from TRACTION in Toowoomba, and we are excited to share what is in the pipeline.
Keep an eye out for June 12th - we have some exciting announcements on the way that we think the Toowoomba community is going to love.
Thank you again to everyone who made the evening what it was. We are proud to be part of this community, and we cannot wait to show you what comes next.
