TRACTION4DEADLYPEOPLE
This artwork was created by Ambrose Killian | Amiwarre and gifted to TRACTION. We are so fortunate to have Ambrose on board as a Real Model Mentor in our programs.
‘TRACTION4DEADLYPEOPLE’ created for TRACTION represents community, strength and story as well as paying respect to and acknowledging Country and the people within it.
From the centre, a large community has been drawn to illustrate the community of TRACTION - the young people, staff, partners, volunteers, friends and family and the entire family that is TRACTION. The diversity of TRACTION is further represented by the array of ‘people’ surrounding the centre - different markings, tools and equipment are depicted to further showcase this diversity. 4 smaller circles surround the central community. These 4 represent (from bottom right) our ancestors, the ones who paved the way, survived, created, built and came before us. Each of their stories unique but are continuing through us and our Young People. The next community to the left of this represents our past - Our Young people all have a past, whether ‘good’ or ‘bad’ this past is a part of our story however, does not define our future. Above - the present - the actions we take are important and do not need to be defined or linear to our past. Finally on the top right - the future. This last symbol symbolises our future direction, stories and the ability we may have to use the past as our strength. The blue river-like object, along with the leaves and waterholes through out pays respect to and acknowledges country. In particular, Brisbane/ Meanjin where TRACTION HQ is (represented by the river), but also the diverse areas and communities we work, learn and live on, to its North, East and South. The joint, circular like river also symbolises that we are all connected to each other through the land, sea and sky.
